A WORD FROM OUR FOUNDER TALITA PISO
As the founder of First Steps Aotearoa, my journey was inspired by a profound belief in the power of inclusivity and the transformative potential of offering second chances. Observing the systemic challenges faced by individuals with diverse backgrounds, including those with past criminal records, ignited a passionate drive within me to instigate change. I witnessed incredible talent being overlooked and untapped wells of skill and dedication left dormant due to societal biases. It became clear that there was a need for a company that not only provided opportunities but actively advocated for diversity and inclusion. First Steps Aotearoa emerged from this vision, driven by a commitment to challenge traditional recruitment norms and create a platform where everyone, irrespective of their past, could find a path to professional fulfillment. My goal was to establish a space where employers could discover exceptional talent while simultaneously empowering individuals to rewrite their stories and carve out brighter futures.
